Saturdays

I have discovered that early Saturday mornings are the best time to study in the dorm. Any time before about 10:30am almost everyone is still sleeping and those that are not aren't making much noise. By 11ish (now) there are people playing music and talking and such, but earlier it was nice and quiet. I think I will remember to take advantage of this a lot this year.

Last night I went to the first night of sorority recruitment. It is a five day process that continues tonight- Tuesday night when you are accepted into a sorority. The process here is extremely inclusive and nothing like the "rushing" you see in movies or might expect of other schools. It's more about mutual selection where the girls, after four nights rank their top two and almost always get into one of those two.

Today's plans include: going to lunch with some of the other girls going through recruitment, Dad and Shea coming up to visit (they already left Phoenix), getting my bike fixed because the front tire is still bent, going to the post office at some point in case I have mail, studying if I can find more time, going to dinner with Dad and Shea, and then going to the second night of recruitment. Tomorrow is pretty much study and recruitment and probably church in the morning considering recruitment is right when church would be and that's about it. Thankfully, Monday is a holiday so any school work leftover from the weekend can be finished up then.

And now I'm going to finish my tea (having a Starbucks close by is nice sometimes because I don't really like making tea from tap water here in the room) and get ready for the rest of the day. Hope everyone has a nice weekend. I haven't really had time to take any pictures or anything, but if I do, I'll be sure to post some of them. Mostly I figure there's not really anything to take pictures of in class, which is most of what I've been up to.

Homework, Health, and Contact

Already homework in all my classes except my Kickboxing class. I got myself into a Pre-Calculus class because the other one seemed way too easy and boring. This one seems pretty easy too, but I think after the first few chapters it will get more challenging. Besides that class, all my homework is basically reading textbooks. I think I have everything under control so far. I plan to do my math after this post and then some reading and more reading tomorrow so I can get it all out of the way before the weekend. I think I like all my classes now, which is pretty good for having no idea what I want my main focus to be. Or maybe bad because the classes are all very diverse and that narrows it down to nothing. We'll see, I guess.

Lately I've been having wheezing and tightness in my chest, so I went to the health center on campus yesterday and the nice doctor lady gave me 5 days of Prednisone (a steriod) which is supposed to help, but I took the first dose this morning and so far has not. If it's still not working tomorrow or the next day, I'm supposed to go back. If it works while I'm taking it and I go back to how I am now after it's done then she said I would need a long acting inhaler pretty much all the time. Fun...

And Grandpa e-mailed me about my address here. I thought I posted it, but I remembered that I just thought about it. So... here is my address...

Casey Rembold
PO Box 06280
Flagstaff, AZ 86011

And if you want to contact me by phone, my cell is the same as ever... (480) 241-9077. I have a few dead spots in the room and randomly around campus, like the Hot Spot (one of the food places here) but I should get any calls or voicemails, and of course there is always e-mail or leaving a comment on here. We do have an assigned number for the dorm, but we don't have a phone because they can only make local calls and anyone in this city is probably easier to reach on their cell phone, plus we don't spend too much time in the dorm during the day.

Second Day of Classes!

So my morning class was canceled and on Tuesdays I only have two classes, so I went to Target with my friend Alex from HS who happens to be in that first class. After that I came back to my dorm and did some homework, which is what I'm about to continue on after this post. My later class was math and that seemed okay, but kind of boring. I'm going to the Gateway Student Center tomorrow to see if there might be a way to test into some higher level class. That's really all I've done today. It's been pretty relaxing, I think, but thinking about tomorrow is getting less relaxing so I'm going to stop posting and do some of that homework now.

Hope everyone is doing alright!

First Day of Classes!

So my day so far has gone like this:
FIrst class, kickboxing, made it on time and all we did was go through the syllabus. After that I came back to the room because I have a two hour break between classes. I then proceded to try to make it to South campus to meet up with Morgan for lunch and ended up going in a giant circle because I thought I knew where I was going and didn't have a map. Yay... after my Psych 101 class (which the teacher told us has at one point had a 50% fail rate, I don't plan to be in that half) I walked outside and got on my bike and it immediately started raining. No big deal, right? I like rain. And then it started to hail in addition to the still going rain... and then I remembered that my laptop was in my backpack, but it was okay because it was also in a case sort of thing. Between my PSY101 and my first year seminar I have 20 mins. I spent these 20 mins trying to get from South campus to North campus. I started out with accidentally hitting another person on a bike, we were both okay and I didn't actually fall, but my front wheel is now bent. I guess that makes Morgan and I even because of her crash yesterday, which I think I wrote about, so now both of us need to get our bikes fixed. Then I took a longer route than necessary to get back to my dorm which by then it was the start time of my class. I fully changed my clothes, made sure everything in my wet backpack was okay and ran out the door to get to my class about 15-20 mins late. That class will be a little difficult because it involves a lot of reading and writing, but I think I'm up to the challenge. And now I'm back here, done with classes for the day. Soon I am off to have an early dinner with Morgan and go to the bookstore for a quick issue that I have. After that I need to go to Target seeing as I somehow forgot to bring any laundry detergent with me up here and I want a few other things as well. That is about all for today, maybe get started on some reading or something and probably get my laundry done.

So, like I said to Morgan, this is one of those days (esp. combined with yesterday) that sounds like an elaborate story but is actually true. But on the bright side I do feel a lot better. =]

Short Post

Today I mostly slept a lot. I've been really hot, maybe a fever, I'm not sure. I went to the bookstore and had lunch out and later we had a hall/building meeting. They gave us keys to the bathrooms, just the girls. I think I feel safer that way. Other than that, I pretty much spent the day resting. This morning I did go on a bike ride from about 6:30 am until about 8. Morgan took a little fall on a steep hill. She was very lucky and managed to fall in the grass and only has a very swollen toe and a few scratches on her arms. Classes start tomorrow and I think I'm going to try to go to sleep very soon. I'm tired and my first class is at 9:10 am. Good night!

Moving In At NAU

This weekend has been a little crazy. We got home very late on Thursday night from Seattle and then got up and started working around 8am on Friday to get my stuff packed in Anthony's truck. We got up here and there were guys from the football team to help everyone move in. Unpacking took a lot less time than the packing part. I spent the rest of the afternoon unpacking my boxes and doing a little organizing. In the evening, the five of us (Anthony, Mom, Shea, my roommate Morgan, and me), along with another friend from HS, went to see The Dark Knight and had some dinner. Today, which seems like it's been more than one, I have gotten my books, run a few errands, walked and biked around campus a bit, said goodbye to my mom and Anthony, and done a lot more organizing to prepare for the school year. Classes start on Monday and there are plenty of activities to keep everyone busy this week.

I took a few pictures of my dorm room to show everyone. I really like my room and my bed is REALLY comfortable. Morgan and I have always gotten along really well and so far things are the same. =]

Here are the picture and I will try to post again soon.

Seattle

It is lots of fun. Very tiring though. Did you know that running after little kids takes a lot out of you? They're super cute though ^_^ And... I finally finished my book. Now I just have to read that freshman reading book... Hm... better get on top of that. It's only 150 pages or so, though. My other book was 754.

So for anyone interested in contacting me by phone, my screen works only when it feels like it, but I can still get calls. We're supposed to get new phones in either September or October. I'm really hoping it's September.

And now I will post some pictures... We tried to get some of all the kids together, which was a little crazy, but worked out okay. We went to the zoo on Sunday, I think, after Auntie and Pritam went back to Oregon. Then on Monday we went to the flower conservatory with the kids and then we came home and I read my book most of the afternoon. Today we went to Vasion Island. We took the fairy boat in the car and drove around and walked on the beach. All three of the kids passed out in the car on the way back and didn't wake up until we were almost back to Seattle on the boat. Uncle Chris lost his wallet on the bus on his way to work, but someone called him and he went to get it back later. I think that's all. Might not sound like a lot, but we've been very busy.

Moving Time

The beginning of school seems closer and closer. I'm sure everyone knows that Mom and Dad are moving to Kentucky so the whole house is being packed up now. I'm mostly just in charge of my stuff. We only have two short weeks left and that's a little scary, somehow it got really close all of a sudden. My last three days of work at the theatre are this Monday- Wednesday and then on Thursday I'm getting my wisdom teeth taken out at noon. Hopefully I'll still have the energy to get stuff done after that in my last week to pack. We are going to Seattle then for a week and the day after we are back I'm moving up to my dorm. Lots to do, but I think I'll be able to get it done. I have way too stuff, so the hardest part is really just getting rid of things. Once that is done, the packing part should only take a day, maybe two.

Dinner time. I'll try to post again before we go to Seattle.
